Congratulations! You’ve decided to embark on the exciting journey to find your next dream home. As you progress through each stage of the new home buying process — from choosing the community, to finding the right model for you, buying the home, designing and selecting features, and finally building your new home — you need your home builder to be with you every step of the way.
When you are looking to buy a new home, working with the right home builder is essential. The right home builder helps you make tough decisions, gives you confidence in your choices and helps you understand key steps in the building process.
Before you can build your next dream home, you have to find the right builder to do the job. This is a very important decision—you’ll be forming a crucial partnership with your home builder as you bring your new home to life! To help you with this important decision, we have come up with a few fundamental questions to ask potential homebuilders, along with our responses.
1. How many years have you been in business?
We have been in business in the DelMarVa, DC Metro area since 1974 – in fact, this year we are celebrating our 40th anniversary!
2. How many homes have you built?
We have built over 4,400 homes across the Delaware and DC Metro area. In addition to our work as home builders, we are fortunate to act as both the developer and builder in a number of our communities. As a developer, we make conscientious efforts to strategically choose convenient, naturally beautiful locations that enable our homeowners to live comfortably without having to make compromise on home design, community amenities or location.
3. What are the most important benefits of the homes you build?
Aesthetically Pleasing, Yet Functional
Our homes are aesthetically pleasing yet functional, designed with striking curb appeal. Christopher Companies focuses on excellence in design and quality craftsmanship with a strong emphasis on sustainability in all of our homes. Our homes are also designed to be functional and practical, as we want Christopher Companies’ homeowners to enjoy the comfort and beauty of their homes for exceptional living.
Energy-Efficiency
Christopher Companies is well known for our passion of building energy-efficient homes, and all of our homes meet the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) in addition to being Energy Star certified.
Christopher Companies is proud of the stringent bar we have set for ourselves, as we produce energy-efficient homes that have a minimal impact on the environment. Christopher Companies homeowners enjoy a number of benefits through owning an energy efficient home, including saving money every month with lower energy bills.
4. Are there any optional features or upgrades I can choose from to customize the floor plan of the model I select?
Every Christopher Companies home style has a standard floor plan configuration with a number of luxury features and amenities. In addition to each model’s standard floor plan, Christopher Companies offers a number of structural variations and optional features to tailor our homes to fit each homeowner’s needs. These options can vary from additional bedrooms, to sunrooms and studies, to expanded or additional porches and much more!
Available options vary by model, check out our homes online and peruse the available floor plan variations and optional features for each of our home styles!
5. Do you only build your own pre-designed homes, or can I design my own custom Christopher Companies home?
In additional to our selection of award-winning home styles, we also build custom homes to make your dream home a reality. You can choose from our many award-winning existing custom home floor plans, modify one of our stock floor plans or develop a floor plan of your own! 6. How often will I have access to the home during the building process? Can I walk through my home while it is under construction?
You will have several opportunities to tour and review your home with your sales professional during the construction process. The construction stage of the homebuilding process is hectic albeit exciting time, but there are many dangerous conditions on home construction sites that may not be immediately obvious to non-construction personnel.
For this reason, we ask that you do not enter your home’s construction site on your own; please call your sales professional to arrange a tour of your home. Your sales professional will provide you with a hardhat, walk you through your home and answer any questions you may have.
