The latest survey conducted by MRIS, a Mid-Atlantic Multiple Listing Service, shows incredibly exciting predictions and attitudes towards this upcoming spring season. While the survey only provides opinions held by regional real estate professionals, and not actual sales numbers, these industry leaders hold valuable insight into the market, which can help direct homebuyers all over the Mid-Atlantic.
Over 1,300 industry professionals were surveyed, all from Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, Baltimore, and parts of the Pennsylvania and West Virginia housing markets. From the survey, the most overwhelmingly positive poll showed that over 70% of those participating feel more optimistic moving into this spring season than they did last year. This suggests there could be a flurry of activity in 2014, and that everyone can benefit from more homebuyers entering the market. MRIS Vice President of Product Innovation and Marketing, Andrew Strauch agrees, noting that “as we saw the Mid-Atlantic housing market stabilize in 2013 from the housing recovery, we can expect to see inventory growth with prices stabilizing in this year’s spring market.”
Also discovered from the survey, many real estate professionals feel that this spring will be a buyer’s market, giving home shoppers the most power when searching for a new home. And with the favorable pricing advantages and a bigger selection of homes, it could be very beneficial to homebuyers if they start looking for their new home as soon as they can.
While all of the survey results spell out good news for the entire Northern Virginia market, home to our townhomes at Marina Landing, what’s most exciting for our community to see is the positive outlook for attached homes. Over 20% of survey-takers feel that attached homes will rise in popularity over other single-family housing options.
