We know how precious beach time can be during the summer, so that’s why we made a list of essentials for your day in the sun and surf! With many of our homes close to some of the best Delaware beaches, here at Christopher Companies we want to make sure you get the very best experience out of your beach days!

SPF: Sunscreen is the most important thing to bring to the beach! Apply sunscreen at least half an hour before you hit the sand so it has time to absorb into your skin. Don’t forget: You will also need lip protector with SPF and sunglasses to block UV rays from your eyes.

Beach chairs and towels: Whichever you prefer to relax with, it’s always a good idea to bring both just incase.

Flip-flops: A barefoot summer can go wrong at the beach if the sand is burning hot! Make sure to bring along a pair of flip-flops to protect the bottom of your feet from blistering.

Electronics: For the music junkie — an iPod, for the bookworm — a Kindle Paperwhite, for the artist — a waterproof digital camera, and for someone with all 3 — a solar powered charger. Check out USA Today’s 25 Hot Books for Summer 2015!

Plastic baggies: These will save you in all types of gone-wrong situations at the beach. Use them to hold sunscreen bottles in case of leaks and electronics to prevent water/sand damage. They are also good to keep sand out of your snacks and other belongings.

Toys & games: Pack some classic beach games like paddleball or Frisbee to stay active all day. For the kids you can bring toys to play in the sand or boogie boards for some fun in the water.

Food & H20: If you want to bring along lunch or snacks, it is good to bring snacks like fruit or veggies to help keep you hydrated. Because hydration is key when you are out in the sun, try and drink water steadily throughout the day.

A drink stand: Those of us who enjoy a cold beverage on the beach know that sand is not your friend. Beach tables and drink spikes are so helpful to keep your drinks raised off the ground for an easy reach and sand-less cups.

Cash: Did I hear someone say pizza? Chances are if you are sitting on a Delaware beach, there is probably a boardwalk right behind you, and you will be tempted. Our boardwalks have amazing choices for classic summer eats and cold treats!

The most important thing to remember is to relax and have fun with your friends and family, and these essentials will keep your day running smoothly.
